Jacknin Gavriel

Rabbi Gavriel Jacknin

Rabbi Jacknin, more affectionately known as Rabbi J was born on Long Island, New York (Originally a Mets fan) and lived in Queens for most of his youth. A graduate of SUNY Binghamton, Rabbi J has a Bachelors of Science in Marketing and Management. During his college years, Rabbi Jacknin developed a passion and love for Judaism which led him to study for many years after in various Yeshivas including Aish, Shar Yashuv and the Mirrer. Eventually, this love for Judaism led Rabbi J to his Rabbinic ordination from Rabbi Zalman Nechemia Goldberg of Jerusalem to fulfill his mission of spreading the ‘Joy of Judaism.’

Besides learning and teaching Torah, Rabbi Jacknin enjoys tennis, softball, jogging (Ran NYC marathon at age 20), all people, and a good cup of iced coffee. Call or email Rabbi J anytime to set up an appointment to meet, study or shmooze about anything.

Mrs. Michal Jacknin

In addition to teaching, planning and cooking for the BJC…..and of course a mother of four…Michal enjoys the outdoors, music and art. Michal leads the popular BJC Challah Club which meets monthly. She also leads a truly inspiring Women’s Israel trip once a year.

Michal has also brought Jewish education into public high schools. She is the director of the Jewish Student Union (JSU) which is an educational culture club. Michal opened her first JSU club at Bellaire High School 8 years ago and has since then opened 5 more clubs including Carnegie Vanguard, Memorial, Lamar, Dulles, Westside and more to come. Rabbi Gavriel and his wife Michal feel blessed to have four children, Yehuda, Eliyahu, Ashira and Avraham who all share in the BJC mission. They would LOVE to have y’all over for a Shabbat 🙂

Bellaire Jewish Center
The Bellaire Jewish Center was established in October 2010 thanks to the vision of several members of the Bellaire community. These individuals envisioned a place where the Jewish community of Bellaire could learn more about Judaism in a warm and welcoming environment. A place to serve the educational and spiritual needs of the community. Although we offer religious services, the Bellaire Jewish Center (BJC) is not a shul…we are your center for Jewish Living. We are your family where Judaism comes alive.

The Bellaire Jewish Center is located in the heart of Bellaire at the Bellaire Triangle. We are specifically located in the beautiful breezeway across from the Bellaire Original Barber.
