Seth Cook is the Director of Aish Campus, Pittsburgh. Seth is originally from Marion, Ohio, and earned a BA in Religious and Jewish Studies from Indiana University. In 2003, he came to Israel to get answers to some plaguing questions. After visiting Aish HaTorah, he decided to stay indefinitely until he “had the capability to make a difference in the world.” After three years at Indiana University, Seth and his wife Lisa moved to Pittsburgh where they run learning programs and Shabbat experiences, organize trips to Israel, support pro-Israel activities, and serve as a home-away-from-home for Jewish students. Seth’s motto: Take responsibility for your growth in a way that inspires you to pass it on.

Aish Pittsburgh, headed by Rabbi Seth and Lisa Cook is the newest one-stop resource for all things Jewish for students from across the Pittsburgh area. Located in Squirrel Hill, Aish Pittsburgh offers a range of cutting edge Jewish programming and Israel trips. Drop in for a gourmet Shabbat or holiday meal. Join us for inspirational one-on-one learning on any topic of your choice from beginners to advanced. Check out our amazing range of Israel and US based trips including Taglit Birthright Israel or just drop by any time to schmooze with the Rabbi or Lisa. Rabbi Seth and Lisa are here for YOU to meet the needs of all of Pittsburgh’s Jewish student body, no matter where you are coming from.

Lisa hails from Melbourne, Australia and graduated from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology with degrees in media studies and Jewish history. In 2004, Lisa decided to head to Israel for 3 months to get some clarity on life’s big questions. 6 and a half years later she was finally ready to leave. These days, Lisa spends most of her free time schmoozing and learning with students, cooking up a storm in the kitchen and chasing after the Cook kids.

From 2010 from 2014 Rabbi Seth and Lisa ran the Aish HaTorah branch at Indiana University, where they quickly gained popularity as the place to be for Jewish students on campus. After building the IU program and sending literally hundreds of students to Israel for trips, internships and learning opportunities, the Cooks are ready to embark on the new challenge of building the future Jewish leaders of the Pittsburgh campus community.
